We have an Information and Activity Resource Centre where you can browse for information on
subjects such as benefits, consumer issues, leisure activities, community care information and much
more. We can help you to find local groups and activities you can join.
A team of staff and volunteers are on hand to assist you to find information and to signpost
you to the appropriate organisation or service for futher relevant help.

Older Sheffield
Looking for services for older people in Sheffield? Look no further than

searchable website contains details of hundreds of activities, resources and services provided by
voluntary, community and faith sector organisations in Sheffield. What's more it will tell you how

Benefit Checks
We can make appointments with Capita (Sheffield Benefits Service) or refer you for a home
visit from the Pension Service to check what you are entitled to. Please call 0114 250 2859 for an
appointment or for more information.
Free Legal appointments
We also host a monthly legal advice session which provides a free 30 minute appointment
regarding issues such as: power of attorney, making or changing a will, care home fees, trusts,
court of protection and probate. These sessions are held by Lupton Fawcett LLP and HLW Keeble
Hawson.
Tax Help
We also host a session from Tax Help for Older People who can provide help with income tax,
inheritance tax and other issues.

You can download factsheets on a wide range of subjects from the Age UK website which
include income and benefits, residential care, consumer and legal issues, health, housing and
leisure, learning and work.

Safeguarding adults - adult abuse
All adults have the right to live a safe life, free from fear and harm. Abuse is not just
physical or sexual, it can involve taking money without permission, not looking after someone
properly, or not allowing contact with family or friends. It can be bullying or harassing somebody
because they are 'different'.
Anyone can be an abuser, for example relatives, partners, friends, paid carers, volunteers,
neighbours, or strangers. If you think you're being abused, or you may know someone who is you can
find more information on the council's website www.sheffield.gov.uk/reportabuse or call their
Adult Access Team on 0114 273 4908.
You can also contact South Yorkshire Police on 0114 220 2020, or get advice from Action on
Elder Abuse's helpline on 0808 808 8141.
